Market News
WOW! What a great day to say we live and are supportive citizens of Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee!
Murfreeboro showed love, as usual! What a beautiful community to call home and know that LOVE does win!
Thank you for all who supported the market last week and every week. Some of our farmers were unable to earn much-needed money on the last day of the Saturday Farmers Market so your continued support here means the world!
THANK YOU!
On to the market news:
Erdmann Farm has listed peppers, pumpkins, and radishes. If we do not get the predicted frost for this week, he will have Zinnia bouquets as an added treat! Peppers and Pumpkins both freeze well for winter use!
Flying S Farms Has a great assortment of squash along with frost-kissed greens! (the frost makes the greens have a sweeter taste!)
She also moved the Pumpkin and Orange Cranberry Breads from the Cakes tab to Quick Breads for easier access.
Check out those along with their Crab Apple and Maypop Jellies!
If you have yet to try Short Mountain Cultures Coconut Kefir, DO IT!! It is creamy and only slightly tangy! Loaded with essential probiotics and GOOD strains of bacteria for improved gut health which can assist in many areas of healing and health maintenance! Try it and the Water Kefir this week!
Who tried the micro greens from Urban Sprouts ? WOW! Delicious and packed full of nutrition as well. We added the pea shoots to duck egg wraps this week! Just eating them straight from the container works for me as well!
Nature’s Wealth added a Gallon size popped popcorn in addition to the quart size. Perfect for on-the-go snacks. The sealable bag keeps the corn fresh for days! Their popping corn seeds are grown on their farm, using Heirloom, non-gmo corn kernels!
What an incredible and FULLY stocked market we have of locally grown or produced products! Makes me PROUD!
From Beef, to chicken sausage, duck and chicken eggs, soaps and natural skin care, hummus, tempeh, ferments, greens, jams, baked goods, vegetables and live plants… it’s pretty amazing how our farmers/makers have shown up for us and we for them.
Thank you again, for your support of this community market! We love you!
See ya on the porch!!

CLG: Opening Bell: Elephant Garlic, Pound Cake, Eggs, Muscadines!
Good afternoon!
Welcome to the world, Natalie Kay! Phyllis Strack’s newest grand-daughter was born Thursday and weighed 7 pounds 14 oz. You can bet Natalie will be bounding around Strack Farm on Lower Ridge Road very soon! Natalie’s Mom, Mary Rose, works at Julie’s Sweet Shoppe and is doing great. Congrats to all!
The big news on the local food scene right now is the early freeze we experienced this weekend. At Cedar Rock Ridge, we had 29 degrees on Friday night, and 28 degrees on Saturday night. This means that our Peppers are done for the year. Luckily though, I’ve been preserving them all summer! Search for “dehydrated” and you will find several listings. Also, other Growers still have summer produce growing in season-extending high tunnels.
Check out the big and beautiful Peppers from Kellogg Valley Farm! Red, orange, purple and green. Stuffed peppers anyone?
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Over 600 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!
And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)
The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you for being a valuable part of CLG!
Have a great week!

The farmers and market managers would really appreciate your efforts to help spread the word about our fantastic market. What a great local resource for fresh, local farm products. Please pick up a few business cards to hand out to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Advertising is very expensive, and we want to use our slim market funds in a responsible manner.
Good morning!
Welcome to our NEW PICKUP LOCATION! Beginning this week (Nov 2), we will be under the big pavilion across from Manchester City Schools administration building at 215 East Fort Street, Manchester. This location is just a couple blocks from Highway 41, 1.5 blocks from the square, and a short distance from I-24 Exit 111. The Coffee County market has some directional signs near the interstate.
(Photo Left) Facing west, toward the square, with Highway 41 in the distance.
(Photo Right) Facing east, with the railroad tracks just past the pavilion, and the back of the Farm Bureau building on the right.
You should be able to view a larger map by clicking on it. If you have any trouble finding us, please call Linda at (931) 273-9708. Michael will wait for a while outside Manchester Farm Center, in case you need directions from that location.
Did you know that by ordering on the locallygrown market, you are virtually assured of receiving the “cream of the crop” from each farmer? You will receive the best products picked and made with pride especially for YOU! You can’t get any fresher and higher quality than that! Thank you for supporting your local farmers and small businessmen and women.
The market is open as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday at 10 pm.
Please be sure to read the section of the page entitled “Important Ordering and Pickup Information.”
Farm News of the Week
Welcome to our market Fiery Fungi from Pelham, TN! Katelin Hawkins writes:
We are a gourmet edible mushroom farm located in Pelham, TN. We are committed to providing fresh, delicious mushrooms to our customers. We strive to provide a good variety all year round. We do not use any pesticides in our grow rooms, and are organic in all but certification.
Katelin has added several mushroom products to the market:
(Top L to R): Shiitake, Blue Oyster, and Lion’s Mane Mushrooms.
(Bottom L to R): Yellow Oyster and Chestnut Mushrooms, and Grow-Your-Own Shiitake Block.
We’re glad to have Terra Hills Natural Products from Hillsboro, TN, returning after a lengthy break. Many of her natural products contain magnesium, which is insufficient in our modern diet. Magnesium assists nearly all our bodily functions, including muscles, nerves, and dignestion. Terresa says:
Terra Hills = from the hills of the earth
Using nature to maintain health & wellness. All natural products for you & your family!

(Clockwise from upper left): Lavender Magnesium Body Butter, ‘Soothing Scents’ Vapor Rub, Magnesium Oil Spray with Lavender, Bathroom Cleaner.
Stock up this week on vegetables from Erdmann Farm. John will probably still have peppers, radishes, and Long Island Cheese pumpkins. He will then be traveling and unable to list on the market for the next two weeks.
(L to R): Peppers “Islander”, Long Island Cheese Pumpkin, Radishes “Champion”.
Andra Martens from Sow’s Ear Piggery sends this message:
With cooler, damp weather, this time of year is perfect for rendering lard in a low-temperature oven that warms your kitchen for hours. This week, we have for sale limited quantities of both back fat and leaf lard. Render low and slow in a covered baking pan, cool, then pour into Mason jars to set. The jars can be stored in the fridge for months. We personally use rendered back fat daily in place of oils or butter, as well as for baking cornbread or muffins. Leaf lard is the internal fat that is prized for baking. If rendered slowly, as not to burn the fat, it finishes pure white. Do not fear the negative propaganda about lard. All our pork products are from non-GMO, non-antibiotic, non-animal-by-product, pastured pigs. Their meat and fat is the purest you will find, and more healthful than store-bought commercial pork. “You are what you eat,” so choose the best!
Back fat and Leaf Lard.
Each week Flying S Farms adds some new offerings early on Sunday morning, after I’ve sent out the newsletter. Please remember to check their vegetables, baked goods, and jams & jellies for their latest items. Here are a few recently added Flying S products:
Maypop (Passion Fruit) & Crab Apple Jellies.

Have you marked your calendars for Nov. 8? You don’t want to miss the opportunity to come by The Wednesday Market during our “Taste of Thanksgiving” event from 3 to 6 p.m. that day. Many, many, many of our farmers, producers, bakers, vendors, and cooks will be on hand, providing customers with samples of their wares. Not only will there be items to eat and drink, but also a selection of gift items for those on your friends and family list. So, be prepared to taste delectable morsels and place your holiday orders, and also bring your list of those you plan to give Christmas presents this year. Who knows? You might just find the perfect gift!
For those customers who haven’t been to The Wednesday Market in a long, long time, we have changed locations. We are now located at 139 Adams Street, Zebulon. If you remember our old location at 15931 Concord Street, Zebulon, it is very easy to find us now. Adams Street is the side street beside our old place. Follow it north, down the hill, past the Old Zebulon School, the Pike County School System’s bus garage, and The Chandler Building, towards Eastview Cemetery. You’ll see us in the little house on the left. If you are a former customer, we’d love to have you back in our midst!
Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to buy locally. We hope everyone has a great Sunday, and we’ll see you at the Market!
Thanks,
Beverly
