Old99Farm Market: Old 99 farm, week of Nov 5, 2017
All the same good choices this week for vegetables and meats. I’ll have a whole beef in the freezer, half of which is already sold but will be lots of choice.
The Liberty apples are stored in the rootcellar, but won’t likely last as well this year due to the warm weather. We have carrots, beets and lettuce, to add to the squash, tomatoes (including Beefsteak), garlic, cilantro, parsley, watermelon, chives, Russet potatoes, onions, kale, spinach and arugula. Please
order your roasting chickens for December.
We had an overall successful set of speaking engagements with Guy McPherson and Abrupt Climate Change. Total attendance at 4 events was about 300. Most of the talks and interviews are available on youtube.
I’m continuing my interest in promoting and teaching people about permaculture and how to apply its design framework to one’s whole life. All the more relevant for us all in the face of uncertainty about stable climate, food production, and habitat for all species. If interested, you can contact me, to find out how to participate.

This Week
Doug from Doug’s Alaskan Salmon will be delivering to us this week.
Eggs We are in short supply of eggs which is normal for this time of year. Chickens desire a consistent temp and no stress. The time change, weather changes and preditors effect whether they decide to lay or not. I will be visiting a farmer on Friday who would like to sell eggs, so hopefully we’ll be increasing our supply soon.
Cane Creek Farm is listing Lamb today on the market. Expect to pay a deposit upon ordering, then the remaining balance depending on the total weight at pick up on December 2.
½ lamb at $180 with $50 deposit and balance upon delivery
(average is ~ 20 lbs of meat; range approx. 15 – 25 lbs)
Whole lamb at $340 with $75 deposit and balance upon delivery
(average is ~ 40 lbs of meat; range approx. 30 – 50 lbs
We will be closed the week of November 20-25th. Your orders for Thanksgiving will need to be placed November 15 & 16 and picked up on November 18th.

CLG: Planting Party! - Market Closes Tonight after 10pm.
Hello friends,
There’s still time to place your order for pickup this Friday, November 10th.
Please read this message from Joe and Nikki Calvert:
We have thousands of lettuce plants to transplant in the next few weeks, and we could sure use some help! So, we’ve decided to throw a “transplanting party” next Saturday, November 11th starting at 2:00 p.m. We’ll work together to transplant for a few hours, then enjoy a meal together of some sandwiches made with our farm raised pork or chicken, twice baked potatoes, and a salad bar (with our lettuce, of course!) Joe is going to get out his tree climbing gear, so hang around to visit, try your hand at tree climbing, and enjoy a bonfire and s’mores.
If you’d like to come, please RSVP with number of adults and children attending by Wednesday the 8th so we can prepare enough food. Please email: service@calvert-enterprises.com
The market closes TONIGHT after 10pm, maybe even midnight! Come early on Friday for the best selection from the Extras table. See you Friday!
