Greener Acres Farm: How About This Weather?
So how is everyone weathering these strange weather patterns? One day it is freezing cold, the next it is in the 50’s and then it dumps wet, heavy snow. Please be safe out there and take care of yourself.
One of the best ways to take care of yourself is to eat a healthy diet, free of excessive chemicals and preservatives. And we are here to help you. All of our growers/producers use the most sustainable growing methods possible. The “Our Growers” tab will provide you with more information about each grower, and as always, feel free to contact us with any questions.
We are currently in the part of the year well there is very limited produce, however, the days are lengthening and green is on the way. In the meantime, we still carry a large selection of meats, eggs, dairy as well as natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup. And for those with a sweet tooth, we also carry delicious baked goods.

Welcome back sunshine! I know we are all more than ready to feel alive and vibrant again! The Whole Foods from our farmers and makers help us to fill that void in winter’s rest.
Fronteir Family Farm brings us iron-rich spinach! Great raw for salads, smoothies or sautéed with some eggs from our farmers for a wonderful protein boost!
Botanical Harmony Farm is back this week.

Short Mountain Cultures has half gallon growlers of their incredible water Kefir! An effervescent natural soda that aids digestion and helps maintain a healthy immune system! This is one treat to have on hand!
Virgin Bay Seafood is off this week! We look forward to their return.

Has Spring arrived? Lots of daffodils are blooming already, and many trees are preparing to bud. We should have plants available in about a month: Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, etc. Our Growers always have a good mix of varieties to help you have a bountiful garden.
Check out the varieties of Goat Cheeses that have been listed by White River Creamery.
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Over 600 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

Sow’s Ear Piggery will be on site at this Thursday’s market with ground pork samples. Come taste how you can substitute our natural pork in your traditional family-meal recipes. Frozen packages of ground pork will be available for sale. Discount to tasters as supplies last.

The first blooms of spring are always a bit tricky to predict. I’ve been watching my daffodil garden, as well as the weather report, and I’m going to list the Spring Daffodil Bouquets on the market this week. If this year’s weather follows the “normal” (erratic) pattern, they will only be available for three weeks because of early hot weather. I’d love for you to enjoy them along with me!
I’m starting to see buds here and there in the greenhouse too. It’s a bit early to set plants in the garden just yet, but these have been in an unheated house all winter, so they’re used to the temperatures. As soon as the weather gets nice enough for the gardener, these early beauties will be ready to go: Hellebore (Lenten Rose), Dwarf Coreopsis, Creeping Phlox, Pulmonaria, Ginger, Primrose, and Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus). Most of these will be in bloom in the next two or three weeks.
Important Ordering and Pickup Information
Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at our NEW LOCATION across from Manchester City Schools administration building, 215 East Fort Street, Manchester.
We can also deliver your order to your home (or other location) on Friday afternoons, for a small fee, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, selecting your delivery area. Don’t forget to give us your location address in the comments section of the order. Also please text Linda at (931) 273-9708 for specific arrangements.

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op: Volunteer NEEDED
As of today, there is only one person signed up to volunteer for this Friday, Feb. 23. We need a volunteer for the short shift from 1:30 to 3.
There are also no volunteer signed up for future markets. This is a volunteer organization. We all need to work together to keep our co-op open.

This week our Farmers Market Steering Committee will begin planning for our 2018 market season! We’ve received lots of great applications and are excited to be able to continue the Power of Produce Club for our market kids. This year the programming is going to be amazing and we will soon begin sharing some of that information with our market families.
Opossum Hollow Produce is taking a week off to do some work on the farm. They are focusing on water conservation and collecting and storing rain water. R Family Farm will be having a different sale each week as they begin clearing their freezers to get ready for the new market season. Arkansabi Farms is prepping the farm for the season and has some spring crops in the ground. Rainbow’s Produce is protecting the yearly strawberry crop and getting their seeds started.
