The oils we source are therapeutic grade and intended for external use only. We do not recommend ingesting essential oils due to the research we’ve done! Essential oils have many benefits when safely used topically or for aromatherapy. We make no claim that this info or the oils will diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any illness or disease. Special care should always be used—dilute, never use the straight oil because it’s so concentrated! Stop use immediately if skin irritation occurs. There are very few safe oils for babies, young children, or expectant/nursing mothers so be sure to check the safety before use! Here are a few links to websites that could be used as a resource on that topic:

We’re excited about selling these oils on the market! Have a great week!
FYI, right now all the pictures show a Lavender label, so don’t be alarmed….you’ll get what you order!

Market News
I’ve just arrived home from a week in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I served on the staff of the annual conference for the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group. It’s one of my favorite events, and this year we had about a thousand farmers from across the south and beyond gathering to share stories of failure and success, learn from those, and inspire each other to return home and grow even more real food for their communities. The days there are extremely long, and I’m ready to drop into sleep as I type this, but it is always well worth it.
While I was away, Doug restocked the salmon freezer he keeps at my house, so you’ll notice his products are back and ready for you to order.

Other Area Farmers Markets
Most other area markets are closed down for the season or have moved to winter hours. The Athens Farmers Market has closed for the season. They’ll return in April, and you can catch the news on their website. The West Broad Farmers Market is closed for the season, and you can watch for their return on their website here: http://www.athenslandtrust.org/west-broad-farmers-market/. The Comer Farmers’ Market is open on Saturday mornings from 9am to noon. Check www.facebook.com/comerfm for more information. Washington, GA also has a lovely little Saturday market, running on winter hours now on Saturdays from 1-4pm. Folks to the east can check out the Hartwell Farmers Market, which starts bright and early on Saturday morning from 7am to noon, and Tuesday afternoons from noon to 4pm. You can learn all about them here: www.washingtonfarmersmkt.com. If you know of any other area markets operating, please let me know.
All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

GFM : SPOTLIGHT VENDOR OF THE WEEK
SPOTLIGHT VENDOR OF THE WEEK
“CHRISTY DID”
My shop name is Christy Did, a play on my name. I love to do machine embroidery and sew as well as other crafts.
Blame it on my grandmothers! One taught me to do crafts and the other to use the sewing machine. I was hooked.
I grew up in Harrison, Ohio and spent a lot of each summer at my great-grandmother’s farm in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Got married and moved to Johnson City in 1973. My husband is retired from the Johnson City Fire Department. We have one adult son.
When I retired I was able to sew my days away, especially on my embroidery machine. Not wanting to appear on Hoarders, I started doing craft fairs, markets, etc. I opened a shop on Etsy, Christy Did, where I sell embroidered items, doll clothes and such.
I plan on being a more frequent vendor at GFM this 2018 season. I had a blast the few times I made it last summer. It is a great place to be on a Saturday morning with some great folks!

Market News
Hello!
It will be good to see you this week!
It’s been a cold one, and our vegetable offerings are pretty basic this week. The current warm spell is lovely for the crops, and hopefully they will have some time to grow and bounce back in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, please support the veggies us farmers do have available to you! There is plenty of fresh, delicious goodness for keeping you well fed!
There is a great selection from our meat producers – lots of new items and remember if there is an item you’d like but don’t see, please let us know and we may be able to track it down for you!
We’ve got a special treat this week of a small, artisan batch of malt vinegar. This is made by the same master fermenter who brought us sauerkraut last season. You can read it’s full description on the market page. Give some a try!
*We are on an EVERY OTHER WEEK schedule! * So that means stock up as you can on meat, eggs, and our storage vegetables! Even the greens are so fresh and well taken care of they have a very long fridge life. So make sure you order enough for 2 weeks!
Our next delivery date after this Wednesday will be Wednesday, Feburary 7th
We are really excited for the year ahead, and hope to continue to serve you in the best way possible! We are always open to feedback and questions. It helps us to be better at what we do, so we appreciate you letting us know what you love or what some concerns may be!
Thanks for all your support – we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
